OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities CTF lesson – Cross Site Scripting (XSS)

The task here is as follows

The following search box outputs untrusted data without any validation or escaping. Get an alert box to execute through this function to show that there is an XSS vulnerability present. 

To solve it, input this <script>alert(1)</script> the basic check for XSS. A small box will appear as following
